Pragmatic features in King Charles’s 75th Birthday Commemorative Album
I’m excited to announce that Pragmatic has been chosen to feature in His Majesty King Charles III’s 75th Birthday Commemorative Album as a UK Business Success Story.
His Majesty at 75: The Leadership and Vision of King Charles III, authored by royal biographer Robert Jobson and published by St. James’s House, will be released on 14 November 2023 – the day of the King’s 75th birthday. The book charts the King’s life from birth to his coronation as King, reflecting on the issues he has championed along the way.
We’re thrilled to be included in this commemorative publication, particularly as King Charles has long been a champion of sustainability – a key tenet of our operations.
Sustainable semiconductor production
FlexICs – flexible integrated circuits based on thin-film transistors – have a significantly reduced environmental impact compared to silicon-based semiconductors. Production of silicon-based semiconductors uses vast amounts of water and energy, and up to 30 different process gases, including perfluorocarbons (PFCs) – gases with considerably higher global warming potential than CO2.
FlexIC fabrication uses a much simpler process and does not require high temperatures, typically maintaining operations below 200°C. This results in significantly reduced consumption of energy, water, chemicals and process gases – and a carbon footprint that’s orders of magnitude less.
Supporting sustainability ambitions
In his previous role as Prince of Wales, The King launched the Sustainable Markets Initiative with the aim of accelerating the transition to a sustainable future through the private sector. We’re pleased to play some small role in supporting that ambition, and are extremely proud to be included in this landmark publication.
