Scott White presents at the Bessemer Society Annual Semiconductor Dinner

This year’s annual semiconductor dinner, organised by the Bessemer Society, took place on Thursday 10 November 2022 in London, bringing together key guests from across the semiconductor industry, including government officials and ecosystem players. The focus of the evening was ‘building a success case for semiconductors’.

Scott White, CEO of Pragmatic, was given the opportunity to speak at the venue, focusing on growing a global semiconductor business and supply chain from a UK base. Kicking off with an overview of Pragmatic’s business and UK operations, he then outlined the company’s 12-year journey to date and discussed how we are now scaling up production of our unique ultra-low-cost, thin and flexible ICs, replacing silicon chips for a series of applications.

With more than 30 years of experience building high-technology companies, Pragmatic as his sixth venture, Scott spoke to the key ingredients for deeptech business success, the key challenges faced, and the Government support to scale in the UK.

Scott’s presentation followed Robert Fleck, Team Lead Semiconductor Strategy at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Eric Adler, Foreign Service Officer at US Embassy, continuing into the evening with other industry CEOs and leaders. DCMS is significant to the event as the Government department tasked with conducting a review and submitting the UK’s semiconductor strategy.

Overall, the evening was an outstanding networking event from the Bessemer Society and Pragmatic looks forward to being involved in the 2023 semiconductor dinner.
