Our ultra low-cost, thin and flexible ConnectIC family of FlexICs enable intelligence and interactivity in things we use each day. By linking physical items with a unique digital identity, they can be traced in real-time throughout their product lifecycle, generating a rich set of data to support improved processes and enhanced user experience.

PragmatIC’s end clients span a diverse range of market sectors including:

Healthcare and medical

While conventional solutions exist for tracking major assets, healthcare providers have a huge challenge in accurately tracking the massive volume of transient items passing through the system. This includes pharmaceuticals, vaccines, medical consumables, tissue and blood samples, test kits, personal protective equipment (PPE), and much more. Innovative technology has a vital role to play. For example, the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) is piloting the SamplePod and PragmatIC solution for pathology tests. It is estimated this could save over £250m per annum, whilst also improving patient experience and reducing the burden on clinicians.

Circular economy

Item-level traceability is not only valuable during the useful life of a product, but also at end-of-life. Being able to uniquely identify individual items of waste allows dramatically improved recycling outcomes. Use cases include waste sorting, smart bins, return deposit schemes, regulatory compliance, and real-time reporting to support improved infrastructure planning. The PragmatIC team has been working with waste data aggregation and analytics firm Topolytics on a DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) project to deliver the UK's first comprehensive digital waste tracking solution.

Interactive toys and games

Embedding item-level identities in toys, cards and games creates opportunities for physical games to become more dynamic, taking on many aspects of digital gaming while still retaining the benefit of interacting with physical objects in the real world. Making play more exciting and challenging. PragmatIC was part of the PING (Printed Intelligent NFC Game Cards and Packaging) Consortium focused on developing the technology for interactive card and board games.
