While conventional solutions exist for tracking major assets, healthcare providers have a huge challenge in accurately tracking the massive volume of transient items passing through the system. This includes pharmaceuticals, vaccines, medical consumables, tissue and blood samples, test kits, personal protective equipment (PPE), and much more. Innovative technology has a vital role to play. For example, the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) is piloting the SamplePod and Pragmatic solution for pathology tests. It is estimated this could save over £250m per annum, whilst also improving patient experience and reducing the burden on clinicians.
